Model-making is considered a luxury for some architects; In reality, the truth is most projects do not warrant the time/ cost spent on crafting hand constructed models.
Model making is used at various stages of the design process. Conceptual models are used to quickly explore ideas spatially. Mass modeling communicates the bulk of the project in relation to the context. Presentation models allow the client to explore the model visually, physically and spatially. Additionally models can be used to communicate detailing drawn by the architect in the documentation phase to the various contractors.
At ICR Studio we believe modeling is a rewarding process and it allows us to advance our craftsmanship.
