Ramon brings new perspective, skills of a designer and team leader to his role as an architectural technician with the ICR Studio Architecture team. His current role includes preparing design concepts utilising 3D modelling and taking them through to contract documentation, consent and tender stages.
Ramon migrated to New Zealand in 2001 but was born in the Philippines. He gained his architectural degree in the Philippines in 1984. He began his journey with an apprenticeship, working with a multi-discipline architectural firm which designed various structures for the US military bases in the Philippines and Guam. From there, he worked with other outstanding architectural firms in Manila which designed, and project managed high-end residential houses, high-storey apartment buildings, shopping malls and medical centres in Manila and Southeast Asia. Ramons extensive design-build experience of retail shops and doctor’s clinics at hospitals and apartment blocks honed his skills in services coordination and construction detailing before moving to New Zealand.
Prior to joining ICR Studio, Ramon gained experience with various award-winning architectural firms in New Zealand carrying out contract documentation of new high-end residential houses, terrace housing, additions alterations to existing dwellings, commercial, educational, community, and health projects not only in Auckland but overseas as well. His role also entailed liaising with various services consultants and helping the project architect do detail drawings, check shop drawings at the construction stage and carry out an inspection at practical completion stage for defects.
Ramons interests, when time permits, are exploring the beauty of his new home, New Zealand. New Zealand has a lot to offer and capturing them in photographs is one of his favourite hobbies. He is also a member of a choir, which performs every third Sunday Mass in our Catholic community in Flat Bush. Ramon also does volunteer work.
