Auckland Council - Waitakere Resource Recovery Park
ICR Studio work with Auckland Council to deliver community related projects.
Earlier this year, stage one of the new Waitakere Resource Recovery Park was officially opened by local and central government officials. ICR Studio collaborated with Auckland Council and ACH Consulting to develop the design, obtain the necessary consents, and support the contracting team, Cassidy Construction.
The previous shop selling second-hand items was located in an area now needed for expansion activities for the transfer facility. A new location was selected about 50 meters away on a small peninsula to develop a new shop and construction material store. This project took two years of planning and development, resulting in a significant advancement for community recycling. Much of the fit-out has utilized second-hand materials to emphasize the potential of reusing existing resources.
The facility itself is operated by the MPHS Community Trust, with a strong emphasis on zero waste. Purchasing products from Tipping Point reduces your environmental impact, supports a community social enterprise, and helps ensure goods continue to circulate rather than ending up in a landfill.
ICR is proud to have been a partner in this project, and we encourage you to visit this facility, which is open seven days a week.
